The original varnish though cracked, crazed and wrinkled has a great original chestnut-red-brown color and should be left alone by the new owner. There are also some specks and steaks of white and green paint on the oak case here and there from possibly when they painted the room that this clock was in. This magnificent old oak clock case has never had any wood replaced in it. It even includes the original dust and cobwebs on the top of the clock there when I removed it from the wall.
This outstanding piece of Americana advertising is all original including the: Sessions solid oak clock case, backboard with great readable label, the varnish finish, the old wavy top and bottom glasses with original gold & black design, all the hardware, the COLUMBIA GRAPHOPHONE CO. advertising paper dial over metal dial pan, hands, winding key, brass door hinges, latches to hold the door closed, screws, sunburst design brass over cast iron pendulum bob and oak pendulum rod. There are only a few places where the gold design around the outer edges of the bottom glass has been touched up and this is shown in the close-ups of the gold glass design.
This great old COLUMBIA GRAPHOPHONE CO. Double - Disc Records advertising clock is approximately 38 ˝ ” tall, 18” wide and 5” deep. The 12” COLUMBIA script paper over metal dial pan is in great original shape with no rips or tears, it is however somewhat faded here and there and dirty in places but given its age, it is in great original shape.
The original 8 day time only “Sessions” script brass clock movement has been professionally cleaned, oiled and adjusted, it runs great and keeps superb time. The clock movement is stamped THE SESSIONS CLOCK CO. FORESTVILLE, CONN.
